Revolutionary operation by HPG guerrillas in Herekol

HPG guerrillas carried out an extensive offensive against the Turkish army in Herekol region of Siirt. As a result of the offensive on July 26, 5 emplacements have been destroyed completely and many soldiers were killed.

People's Defense Forces (HPG) Press Office released a written statement on their website and stated that HPG guerrillas carried out a revolutionary operation against soldiers of the Turkish army in Herekol region of Siirt province.

The HPG statement disclosed the following details:

REVOLUTIONARY OPERATION IN HEREKOL

"Our forces carried out an operation against the occupying Turkish army which is conducting military operations with the help of Contra forces and some networks of traitors for a long time in the region of Herekol in Siirt.

Our forces that kept the Turkish soldiers in Girê Kulind hamlet under surveillance for a long time since they were positioned there, carried out an offensive against them from four fronts, at 19.20 on July 26. During the operation in which all outposts were hit effectively, 5 emplacements were destroyed completely while many others damaged, and an automatic BKC weapon was destroyed as well.

9 soldiers of the Turkish army were killed and many more injured in this offensive. Our forces confiscated a thermal camera, a day vision binocular and one walkie-talkie in these emplacements.

Our comrade Egid, who like his fellow fighters fulfilled his duty with the truest spirit embedded in all followers of leader Apo, was severely injured while he played a crucial part in the success of this offensive, and fell a martyr despite all the efforts to save his life.

After the action, the Turkish army started to shell the region with howitzers, mortars and DshK weapons, and removed their casualties with Sikorsky-type helicopters from the scene.

ACTION IN KATO JIRKA: 4 SOLDIERS KILLED

At 19.00 on July 25, our guerrilla forces targeted a unit of the occupying Turkish army in the area of Deriye Zerdele in Şırnak’s Kato Jirka region. Our forces hit the enemy’s emplacements heavily and destroyed an emplacement along with an A4 heavy weapon in it. As far as could be determined, 4 soldiers of the Turkish army were killed and many others wounded here.

After the action, the Turkish army removed their killed and injured soldiers with Sikorsky-type helicopters from the scene.

A CONTRA UNIT TARGETED NEAR VAN

At 03.00 on July 17, our forces targeted a transit vehicle transporting a contra unit on the road between Van and Xırabê Bader. The transit vehicle was destroyed completely as a result of effective hits by our forces, but the number of killed or injured Contra members could not be clarified. After the action, the Turkish army launched an operation in the region of Nodize.

VEHICLE CARRYING MATERIAL TO AN OUTPOST BURNED

On July 26, our forces intercepted a vehicle which transported material for the construction of the Gır outpost in Amed's Lice district, and set fire to it. The guerrillas warned the driver and let him go afterwards.

CLASH IN ELAZIĞ

At 03.00 on July 25, clash broke out between our guerrillas and soldiers of the Turkish army that launched an operation on the road in between Elazığ and Karavelyan village of Bingöl. After the clash of which details could not be obtained regarding the casualties of the Turkish soldiers, the Turkish soldiers headed to the village of Karavelyan and terrorized the villagers. Our forces involved in the confrontation returned safely to their base.

The military operation was retreated the same day at 19.00.

THE TURKISH ARMY SEES ITS SOLUTION IN AGGRESSION

The Turkish army which is being defeated by the huge resistance of our guerrillas hopes to gain results by the use of technical backup.

To this end, the Turkish army conducted extensive airstrikes on the regions of Çemço, Zap and Avaşin in the Medya Defense Zones at 08.30 on July 27.

Aerial bombardments targeted the areas of Hill Sor, Hill Martyr Rızgar, Hill Martyr Sılêman and Tabura Ereban in Avashin region; Çiyayereş, Kure Jaro and Werxelê areas in Zap region at 12:00; and Çemço area at 14:20.

Fields and orchards belonging to the civilian population were greatly damaged as a result of the bombardments, and fire broke out in some locations.

TURKISH ARMY SHELLED HILL KOORDINE

From 09.00 to 10.00 on July 27, soldiers of the Turkish army positioned in Kuresino outpost in Şırnak’s Uludere district, shelled Hill Koordine with howitzers and mortars.

On the same day at between 11.30-12.30 and 19.00-22.00, Turkish outposts on the border of Uludere shelled the hamlets of Derarê and Hırorê. The bombardments of the occupying Turkish army caused a fire in the region which still continues.

FALLEN GUERRILLAS

On July 19, one of our guerrilla units encountered and engaged in a clash with soldiers of the Turkish army near the village of Demirkapi in Ağrı’s Bazîd (Doğubeyazıt) district. Three of our comrades fell martyrs in the clash, whereby numbers of the killed and injured soldiers could not be verified by our side.

We had issued a statement on July 5th, in which it was stated that the Turkish army had started an operation on July 1 in between the villages of Mijîn and Hilal in Şırnak’s Uludere district. Clashes broke out between our guerrillas and the enemy forces in the area, in which our comrade Sidar Adil (Mehmet Zafer Cicek) was martyred after he fought heroically and resisted with death defying spirit.

On July 4, the Turkish army had launched an operation in the region of Çemçe in Kars’ Kağızman district and made here excessive use of technical support. In the clashes between the Turkish forces and our guerrillas, two of our comrades who fought heroically fell martyrs.
