A road IED was detonated during the passing of a Turkish military convoy in Batufa region in Zakho town of Southern Kurdistan’s Duhok province.
Footage by the NRT television based in Southern Kurdistan shows the blast leaving a vehicle unusable, and photos depicting soldiers in Turkish military uniforms accompanying the wounded at hospital.
According to local sources, the convoy was transporting Turkish intelligence and military officers. A civilian car carrying Turkish intelligence MİT officers was also targeted. Several dead and wounded soldiers in the convoy have been rushed to the nearby hospitals and medical centres.
While no details are available yet regarding the number of casualties, access has been banned to the area that has been closed for the press as well.
Police have started an investigation into the blast which was also confirmed by Batûfa official Mihemed Hesen.
