Roboski families demand justice for the 285th week

Families of Roboski victims reiterated their demand for justice on the 285th week, and also condemned the prison sentence given to HDP Şırnak MP Ferhat Encü.

Families of victims of the Roboski massacre, in which 34 Kurdish young men were killed in Turkish air strikes in the village Roboski in Şırnak's Uludere district in 2011, continued to demand justice on the 285th week of their sit-in demonstration at the cemetery of victims.

Like every week the families gathered by their children's graves, followed by a weekly statement read out by Veli Encü on behalf of the families who held the photographs of their beloved ones killed in the massacre.

Encü drew attention to last week's obstruction of their weekly gathering by Turkish soldiers, and noted that the justice they are asking for has once again been trampled. Encü stated that this week's gathering was dedicated to HDP MP Ferhat Enüu who remains under arrest and was sentenced some days ago to 4 years and 7 months in prison, calling it a far cry from any sort of justice.

Encü explained that the court verdict is politically motivated and said: "We the people of Roboski do understand and rebuff this message which they want to give in the person of our Parliamentarian Ferhat Encü to our village and community. Ferhat Encü will keep on walking on this path for his people without make concessions. And it shall be known well also, that we stand with our representative and every word he said".
