Rojava Youth against Turkish occupation

Youth organizations of Rojava will gather at Sêmelka Border Crossing on July 24 to cross into Southern Kurdistan and join the Human Shields action in Qandil against Turkish occupation.

Rojava Kurdish Youth Coordination and Democratic Syrian Youth Council has issued a call to gather at Sêmelka Border Crossing on July 24 to protest Turkey’s attacks on Southern Kurdistan, join the Human Shields action in Qandil and show solidarity with the people of Southern Kurdistan.

The joint statement by Rojava Kurdish Youth Coordination and Democratic Syrian Youth Council condemned the occupant Turkish state’s attacks on guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones and called on all youth to rise up against occupation.

The press statement read by Amed Memo said the following;

“Attacks of the occupant and fascist Turkish state against Northern Syria and Rojava are increasing day by day. The goal of the tyrannizer enemy is to crush the Democratic Nation Revolution and the will, free and honorable life ideals of people in this revolution.

More atrocities are perpetrated every day in Afrin and plans of special war and occupation are carried out in all regions. The Turkish state pursues a policy of war and occupation in not only Rojava but four parts of Kurdistan, and seeks to launch an operation to occupy Qandil without the boundaries of Southern Kurdistan.

The silence of Kurdistan Regional and Iraqi governments and international powers means supporting this situation, proving that a general concept is carried out against the democratic line of Middle Eastern peoples in the body of our movement. We should rise up against this. The youth of Kurdistan and Syria will never accept invasion and will enhance the struggle against it.

We salute the Human Shields action in Qandil of Southern Kurdistan youth and announce that we will be joining them and standing shoulder to shoulder with them against occupation. A month ago, we tried to cross into Southern Kurdistan but were prevented by KDP forces. We will go to Sêmelka Border Crossing (between Rojava and Southern Kurdistan) once again and stand against invasion together with our brothers and sisters from Southern Kurdistan.

On this basis, we call on everyone to gather at Sêmelka Border Crossing on July 24. Should KDP forces prevent our crossing again, we will wait at Sêmelka until we cross the border, even if it takes months.”
