Political analyst Falah Salah Abdullah talked to ANF about the current situation in Iraq, the disagreements about the formation of the government despite the fact that 6 months have passed since the elections, and his suggestions and warnings over a possible solution.
Abdullah pointed out the dangers of not forming a government in Iraq despite the fact that 6 months have passed since the elections, and said: "While a new era should have begun in terms of democracy in the period after 2003, the Iraqi forces have not been successful in this regard. The current situation in Iraq is due to the division between Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites. There is a conflict between Sunnis and Shiites but now one of the reasons for the failure of the Iraqi government is the Kurds. We can say that because they cannot agree on a presidential candidate who will solve the problems. Unfortunately, the unity of the Kurdish parties in all four parts of Kurdistan has become a dream. The political forces in Kurdistan, especially in South Kurdistan, buried their dream of unity. Because South Kurdistan's ruling and opposition forces are divided over other regional powers such as Turkey and Iran. This means that there is no real will to get out of the current political crisis in the Kurdistan Region. Because at the moment, the plans of the countries in the region are in effect."
Abdullah said that the election results in South Kurdistan and Iraq revealed the lack of will of political forces and the public's distrust of these forces, and added that the political forces do not have a popular base, and that the hegemonic and regional countries' decisions have an impact on Iraq.
Stating that the Kurdistan Region and Iraq have become the arena of conflicts between hegemonic countries, Abdullah made the following warning: "Russia will also be a part of this conflict in coordination with Iran. If the political forces of Kurdistan do not approach the alliances carefully and maintain the balance of power, the Kurdistan Region will definitely suffer, and will be the victim of the arrogance of the political forces in the Kurdistan Region. Every day, Iran and Turkey bomb the lands of Kurdistan and Iraq. The US can kill Shiite leaders in the center of Baghdad. The lack of will of the Iraqi political forces is the reason for the conflicts of the hegemonic countries in all Iraq."
Noting that there are rumors that the Turkish state is preparing for war against the PKK with the support of the KDP, Abdullah said: "We are at the right time for the Kurdish forces to take steps to resolve the problems between them. A conflict between Kurdish forces will be written in the dark pages of history. The Kurdistan Region is very weak in terms of economy, politics, education and service. If the process is not approached carefully, unfortunately, there may be even bigger crises."
