The residents of the Maxmur Refugee Camp planted saplings to mark the 73rd birthday of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Saplings were planted in the garden of the Martyrs’ Families Association in Martyr Rüstem Cudi Refugee Camp in Maxmur, South Kurdistan to celebrate April 4, the birthday of the Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Before planting saplings, a minute's silence was observed to commemorate those who were martyred during the Kurdistan freedom struggle.
“Öcalan’s birthday is a reason for happiness for women,” Sarya Marinos said in a speech made on behalf of the Martyrs' Families Association.
“The Kurdish people awakened from a deep sleep with the birth of Öcalan. His birthday represents a great value not only for the Kurdish people, but for all oppressed peoples,” she added.
