A second group has taken over the indefinite-alternate hunger strike launched in Amed in solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike ongoing in Turkish jails for 57 days.
The 2 day-long alternate hunger strike started by families and political party administrators in Amed branch office of Democratic Regions' Party (DBP) in solidarity with prisoners on hunger strike for 57 days continues in its third day.
The hunger strike, joined by families of prisoners and politicians from DBP (Democratic Regions' Party), HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party), TJA (Free Women's Movement) and DTK (Democratic Society Congress), has been taken over by a second group of 20 people today, who include HDP Amed MP Ziya Pir.
HDP Amed MP Feleknas Uca, from the first group of hunger strikers, made a statement and called attention to the current historic process of resistance in prisons.
Uca underlined that the prisoners are resisting against atrocity, war and suppression, and for everyone that stands up against being ignored.
Uca recalled that demonstrations and hunger strikes in solidarity with prisons continue in Rojava and Europe as well in addition to North Kurdistan, and called upon all the Kurdish people to give voice to the prisoners and be their voice.
Speaking on behalf of the second group, 78's Association Amed Branch member Aziz Çelik said the demands of the prisoners are their demands as well, and vowed that they will stand with the prisoners till the end in order for their demands to be met.
Following the speeches, the second group took over the hunger strike, chanting "Prisoners are our honor".
