Shengal Êzidî Assembly: KDP attempts to hinder humanitarian aid

KDP's peshmerga forces are getting more reactions after closing the road for the transport of humanitarian aid for Shengal people since August 3rd. Peshmerga forces have this time attempted to hinder the passage of trucks delivering medical and food supplies.

In a statement about the subject, Shengal Êzidî Assembly Spokesman Xidir Salih said peshmerga forces must abstain from such practices that do not serve the people, recalling that this humanitarian corridor had been opened at the cost of great prices and many lives.

Xidir Salih stated that; "Had this corridor not been opened, this would have also created a possibility for the massacre or abduction by ISIS of hundreds of peshmergas that left Shengal alone at the time. We define this road as a humanitarian corridor and use it together with our people from Rojava."

Describing the arbitrary closure of the road as an immoral practice that left the people in a difficult situation, Xidir Salih said this road was used by not smugglers or gangs but by the people to meet their needs, including access to medical service.

"I am calling upon our peshmerga brothers to not listen to the orders that are given by the government but do not serve the people. How can you ever close this road that enables the access of aid to the Êzidî people, your brothers and sisters?"

Shengal Êzidî Assembly Spokesman emphasised that such practices served the enemies of Kurds and must be avoided.

Warning that this attitude would provide a basis for a fratricidal conflict, Xidir Salih urged the peshmerga to not be a party to this game.
