Shengal Genocide protested in Sulaymaniyah and Maxmur

The Shengal Genocide was protested in Silêmani and Maxmur.

Residents of the Martyr Rûstem Cûdî Refugee Camp in Maxmur condemned the genocidal attack of ISIS gangs against the Yazidi people in Shengal on 3 August 2014 with a march.

After the march, a statement was read by Hêlîn Kara, who respectfully commemorated the victims of the genocide and said: "We are here to remember the victims of the 3 August genocide, carried out by ISIS."

Pointing out that Afghan women were left at the mercy of the Taliban a year ago, Hêlîn Kara continued: “The Taliban, which has the same mentality of ISIS mercenaries, has targeted leading women. Afghan women continue their struggle and resistance against the persecution of the Taliban. We salute the resistance of Afghan women. Long live the people's war, long live the women's struggle!”

Sulaymaniyah

The Yazidî Democracy and Freedom Party (PADÊ) commemorated the victims of the ISIS genocide in Shengal.

Shengal Autonomous Administration representatives attended the ceremony.

Speaking on behalf of PADÊ, Silêman Şengalî said: “Shengal is not the Shengal of 2014. It currently has an autonomous administration. We will not allow the Shengal and Yazidî people to go back to before the 2014 genocide.

When ISIS mercenaries arrived, Iraqi and KDP forces in Shengal fled without looking back. But we have the power to defend ourselves today.”

Speaking on behalf of the Shengal Autonomous Assembly, Heso İbrahim said: “We respectfully greet Leader Apo, the freedom guerrillas and the mothers of Kurdistan. Today, the Yazidi people defend themselves with the ideology of Leader Apo.”

Pointing out that the KDP betrayed them, Heso İbrahim said: “As the Yazidi people, we have faced not only the genocidal attacks carried out by ISIS mercenaries, but also the betrayal of the KDP. We responded with resistance.”

Messages from RJAK, Tevgera Azadî, Northern and Eastern Syria Autonomous Administration, Goran Movement, representatives of Christian faiths and the Kurdistan Workers' Party were also read at the ceremony.
