People of Shengal saluted the ongoing indefinite-irreversible hunger strikes in Turkish jails, stressing that they would be standing with the Kurdish Freedom Movement till the end.
Young Êzidî woman Kurdê Ali condemned the Turkish state's atrocity and all the international institutions, the European Union in the first place, that remain silent on the hunger strike in prisons that has left 60 days behind.
Kurdê Ali said women from Shengal saluted the prisoners joining the hunger strike, adding that they themselves would also go on hunger strike if necessary.
Another Shengal resident, Şêrzad Şemo also saluted the hunger strikes, saying the followings: “Some of the prisoners are already on death's threshold. More than 200 prisoners are joining the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike but nobody gives them a voice. This silence is a dishonor for humanity. Prisoners just demand their legitimate rights and they are risking death for this cause. Still, human rights organizations are still silent and have yet to act with responsibility.”
Şemo also pointed out that if necessary they could join the hunger strike in Shengal for the Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan and Kurdish prisoners in Turkish jails.
Another young woman by the name of Mediha Murat voiced readiness to start a hunger strike, emphasising that they as Êzidî community stood with the people of North Kurdistan and would give a struggle for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
