Sêwan Kakemend, whose four brothers fell as martyrs, called for support for the 'Justice for Kurds' campaign launched in Kirkuk. The campaign demands the PKK's removal from the list of terrorist organisations and the freedom of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Sêwan Kakemend said that the PKK is fighting for the freedom of the Kurdish people and added: "Four of my brothers fell as martyrs for the freedom of Kurdistan. The PKK is a freedom movement and has never betrayed its people and nation. PKK guerrillas have always defended their people with heroism and self-sacrifice. The PKK is fighting for the four parts of Kurdistan without discrimination.
The city of Kirkuk is under the constant threat of enemies. In 2016, ISIS mercenaries launched a large-scale attack to occupy Kirkuk from the southern part, where the Arab population live. In the attack, PKK guerrillas and Pêshmerga forces affiliated with the PUK heroically defended Kirkuk. In that attack, 200 peshmerga and several commanders such as Lîwa Şêrko fell as martyrs. Thanks to the heroism of the PKK, Kirkuk was protected from ISIS mercenaries."
Call to the Kurdish people
Referring to the invasion attack against Kurdistan, Kakemend emphasized that states that see the PKK as a 'terrorist' movement are terrorist states.
Reminding that these states carried out many massacres against the Kurdish people, Kakemend called for support for the 'Justice for Kurds' campaign. "As the sisters of four martyrs, I wholeheartedly support this campaign. I call on you to support this campaign," she said.
