Seven people were taken into custody in Amed (Diyarbakır) yesterday in the scope of an investigation launched by Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The detainees included Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Party Council (PM) member Eşref Mamedoğlu, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) PM member Ramazan Dengiz, Rosa Women’s Association members Gülistan Nazlıer and Suzan İşbilen, HDP former administrator Hasan Kale, DISK (Confederation of Revolutionary Workers’ Unions) Genel-İş trade union Diyarbakır No 1 branch chairperson Hasan Hayri Eroğlu and Bağlar Municipality former co-mayor Eşref Güler.
The detainees were referred to court earlier today and six of them were remanded in custody, except for Rosa Women’s Association member Suzan İşbilen who was released on condition of judicial control.
Those imprisoned are accused of “membership to an illegal organization”.
