The extensive military operation launched by the Turkish army in the countryside of Amed province continues in its third day. The operation, started after the imposition of a curfew in 104 villages in Lice, Hazro, Hani, Dicle, Kocaköy and Kulp districts, is joined by 10 thousand soldiers, special operations police and village guards. During today's clashes 3 soldiers were killed and 5 others were wounded in addition to a village guard.
As clashes intensify in the operation area, soldiers raided the Gökçe (Zara) village and forced the people to leave their homes. Following the forced evacuation of the villagers here, soldiers conducted a raid on the Gömeç (Hurê) village, ordered the residents to gather in front of the village mosque and leave the village.
According to locals, residents evacuated from Gökçe village were taken to the Gömeç village and forced to leave the area altogether. As villagers tried to call their relatives to inform them about the situation, special operations members provented them from speaking on the phone.
Villagers Ayşe Kaplan (68) and Bekir Kaplan (70) also had their house raided by the soldiers who -they said- detained their son only because his name was Ahmet but written as 'Ehmet' in his identity card.
“The soldiers took our son away and brought us in front of the village mosque”, they said.
Tensions continue in the region and it is getting difficult to receive information from the villagers.
