It is now the fifth day of the atrocity against 28 wounded people who remain trapped in a basement in Şırnak's Cizre district. While five of them have died due to loss of blood since, the others remain under a threat of imminent massacre as Turkish forces continue targeting them with fire.
Armored vehicles of Turkish forces started to attack the building with heavy artillery and mortar fire short before the arrival of Cizre Municipality ambulances that were allowed only today to go to the scene and retrieve the casualties. However, ambulances were also stopped on their way and taken to the police directorate in Konak neighborhood where they are being held waiting and not allowed to leave.
In the meantime, ongoing mortar fire by Turkish forces has caused the collapse of the stairs leading to the basement, the door of which has also been closed by ruins.
Speaking to Kurdish Med Nuçe TV, Cizre People's Council co-chair Mehmet Tunç said military vehicles have got as close as 10 meters to the building which is at the same time being targeted by mortar attacks.
Tunç, who was talking on phone on the second floor of the greatly demolished building when the stairs leading to the basement collapsed, said that; "We can neither get inside or go out now. We are waiting to die here as they are trying to demolish the building completely with mortar shells. The door of the basement has also been closed with debris. I have no information about the wounded now as I remain on the second floor. We have been making calls from this basement for the past 5 days. The AKP government will be buried in this wreckage. What a shame! An ambulance is yet to arrive here as people are dying one by one in this basement. Humanity will also stay under the debris of this basement. We will try to remove the debris to see if those down there are still alive."
