State forces attack the areas of self-rule in Şırnak and İdil

Turkish military and police forces have started a fresh wave of attacks on Şırnak's Yeni neighborhood and İdil's Turgut Özal neighborhood this morning.

Turkish military and police forces have laid a siege around Yeni neighborhood of Şırnak province despite there being no curfew in effect.

The neighborhood which is protected by civilian units of self-defense has come under fire of Turkish forces as of Saturday morning. The neighborhood is being shelled by armored vehicles deployed around it and special operation police positioned in the building of the Provincial Directorate of Culture.

Police forces also fire intense tear gas on the neighborhood where local people and members of YPS/YPS-Jin have started to mount resistance in response to the attacks. Heavy clashes in the neighborhood are going on.

In the meantime, aggression by state forces also continues in Şırnak's İdil district where a siege and curfew remains in effect for 12 days.

Turkish forces have started an intense artillery attack on Turgut Özal neighborhood which is defended and protected by units of self-defense.

The aggression has reportedly demolished many houses and started a fire in many of these.
