Under the guise of “urban renovation”, some homes in Alipaşa and Lalebey neighborhoods in Amed’s historic Sur district are being partially taken down, while others are completely demolished. Others still are under threat. The people are pressured to leave their homes in a week, but they are determined to resist.

Some of them read: “No to Toledo!”, “Sur is ours”, “Sur is love”, “We’re not giving up our home”, “Sur belongs to the people” and “Sur Resist”.
