Süleyman Aksu was an English teacher and was among the 33 people who lost their lives in the massacre in Urfa’s Suruç district in 2015. His grave in Yüksekova, Hakkari was vandalized during the night.
The headstone with Aksu’s name and photograph on it was broken.
Aksu was buried in the Orman neighborhood cemetery, and his headstone was installed yesterday on September 6. The same cemetery had been attacked by the special operations police on April 29 and the officers vandalized the graves and wrote “carrions” on the stones.
Turkish police and soldiers have damaged many graves in the past. Entire cemeteries have been destroyed by Erdoğan’s orders.
