TEV-DEM member: Attack on Shengal targets the Rojava revolution

TEV-DEM Coordination member Hanife Huseyin: “KDP and AKP are aiming to throttle the Rojava revolution by taking Shengal and to attack Rojava easily from there.”

TEV-DEM (Movement for a Democratic Society) Coordination member Hanife Huseyin stated that KDP and AKP are attacking Shengal with a concept that has Rojava in the center and said: “By taking Shengal, they are aiming to throttle the Rojava Revolution and attack Rojava easily from there.”

Huseyin spoke to ANF on the new anti-Kurdish concept the Turkish state and the KDP launched with the attack on Shengal.

“THEY ARE ATTACKING SHENGAL IN A JOINT CONCEPT”

Husên stated that the attacks on March 3 and March 14 by the KDP gangs against the Êzidî people in Shengal were developed by the joint concept of the Turkish state and the AKP. Huseyin said the attacks emerging in this concept on Shengal can’t be considered separate from the Turkish state’s invasion operations on Northern Syria and the attacks launched on Manbij, and continued: “These latest attacks were carried out as a result of the meetings between Erdoğan and Masoud Barzani. They made an alliance. After Barzani and Erdoğan met in Ankara, the attack plans on Manbij, Grê Spî and Shengal were made. The gangs that attack Shengal are the same as the gangs that attack Manbij. There are Turkish officers, KDP peshmerga and members of Zeravan among them. There are also Roj gangs allied with PDK. If these are attacking Shengal in Southern Kurdistan, that means they are KDP’s forces and the KDP are making them fight.”

“ROJAVA IS IN THE CENTER OF THIS CONCEPT”

Huseyin stated that the joint concept developed by the Turkish state and the KDP is first an anti-Kurdish and anti-people concept and it takes smothering the Rojava Revolution and the Northern Syrian Democratic Federation in its center, and said the following: “The Turkish state is especially disturbed by the developments in Rojava. Today, Rojava is strong and a revolution has been implemented. They are openly disturbed by Rojava becoming a political, diplomatic and military force today, by Rojava self governing for the last 4 years and taking the self governance system to Northern Syria as a whole with the Northern Syrian Democratic Federal System. All efforts by the Turkish state is to prevent the development of the Northern Syrian Democratic Federation and the peoples of Syria achieving political status because the AKP is anti-Kurdish, and anti-people. No development in the peoples’ favor coincides with their interests. They are anti-Kurdish as always. Wherever the Kurds create a development, they want to smother it. They know how the status Kurds will achieve in Northern Syria will affect Northern Kurdistan and all other parts. That is why they want to smother the Northern Syrian Democratic Federation and the Rojava Revolution at any cost.”

“WE KNOW THEM WELL”

Huseyin said the Rojava Revolution history has many examples of the joint concept by the Turkish state and the KDP and added: “Since the start of the revolution, they implemented a policy of depopulating Rojava. They opened the doors wide and encouraged the people to migrate. KDP has stood by the AKP throughout the revolution as well. As it is known, they took such steps by the beginning of the revolution. Then they held the Rojava border, they dug trenches. Later Barzani himself made a statement and said ‘There is no revolution in Rojava’. Rojava was directly targeted while Barzani said these. Now, according to information we have received, together with the AKP they are sending the MİT intelligence through ENKS. In truth, there is no ENKS left. The people doing this are PDKS and Yekiti. These parties under the KDP in Rojava also played a counter-revolutionary role in the Qamishlo serhildans of 2004, they struck a deal with the regime and stopped the people’s serhildan.

Especially the Dumiz Camp in Southern Kurdistan was used as a special war center to trap the people migrating from Rojava in bad conditions to use them against their own people. The forces that call themselves the “Roj peshmerga were groomed there. They are not Rojava peshmerga. They are officially placed under the peshmerga ministry by the KDP. We call them the KDP gangs. Since the beginning, with every chance they got, they have been used against the Rojava revolution.”

“BARZANİ ATTACKS FOR THE DECLARATION OF A STATE”

Hanife Huseyin stressed that Shengal has a special place in this concept and talked on the place of Shengal in this concept and KDP’s goals as: “With this, they will separate Rojava Kurdistan from Southern Kurdistan. Their goal is to throttle the Rojava Revolution and attack Rojava easily over Shengal. Masoud Barzani’s dream is to include the Cizîr Canton in Southern Kurdistan and to declare a state. This is of course dangerous politics and a dirty plan. They are once more targeting all the values created by the Rojava Revolution.

On August 3, 2014 ISIS had attacked Shengal. KDP withdrew their forces and abandoned the Êzidî people to face the 73rd genocide. That was done on purpose. The concepts for Kobanê and Shengal were devised together at that time. In truth, there were preparations then for the war imposed today. Because the KDP and the AKP wanted to take Shengal together. This plan was foiled by the HPG, YJA Star, YPG and YPJ forces, but the Êzidîs still experienced a great tragedy.”

“ÊZİDÎS NO LONGER ACCEPT THE KDP”

Huseyin said the situation of Êzidî people today is not the same as it was in 2014, and that the Êzidîs don’t accept KDP or KDP’s plans any longer, and continued: “Unfortunately, back then the Êzîdî society wasn’t organized and couldn’t defend themselves. Of course today, the Êzîdî people in Shengal are not in the same situation as 2014. The Êzîdîs in Shengal organized themselves after the 73rd genocide, they built their constituent assembly, their administration and their defense forces. Right now, Shengal wants to be governed as a province in Iraq and Southern Kurdistan. Of course they no longer trust the KDP. Shengali Êzîdîs don’t want KDP anymore, due to both KDP abandoning the Êzîdî people in the face of the ISIS massacre, and the KDP acting together with the AKP in the Sunni bloc. The people they are taking there today and using to fight against Êzîdîs are people who converted to Islam and fought against Êzîdîs before. In short, KDP wants to build their hegemony once again over Shengali Êzîdîs, but the Êzîdîs want to govern themselves.”

“WE ARE PREPARED TO DEFEND SHENGAL”

Huseyin stated that they thought of themselves as responsible for the defense of Shengal and the Êzîdî people in Shengal, like in 2014, and continued: “Before the massacre of 2014 too, we wanted to go to Shengal and defend the people but it was always prevented by the KDP. Our forces had many martyrs and opened a corridor to save more than 200 thousand Êzîdî people. We are prepared for more martyrs for the defense of Shengal.

Strategically we also don’t accept the borders of Sykes-Picot. For us, Kurdistan is one. Because of that, we consider ourselves responsible for the protection of Shengal and the Êzîdî people in Shengal. We also know that this concept developed by the KDP and the Turkish state over Shengal targets Rojava Kurdistan and all gains achieved by Kurds and Kurdistan as a whole. That is why, for a while now, our people have been going to Xanesor district in Shengal to support the Êzîdî people as human shields. We don’t accept KDP’s policies and we condemn them. For the martyrdom yesterday, we shout out loud our motto ‘Şehid namirin’ once more, and we wish a swift recovery for the wounded. We are calling on our people in all 4 parts of Kurdistan and abroad, to protect Shengal.”
