TEV-DEM warns that Geneva will be a 'second Sykes-Picot'

TEV-DEM warned the Geneva talks will be a 'second Sykes-Picot' and called upon the international powers to back down from this historic mistake.

The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) Diplomatic Relations Center issued a written statement on the centennial of the Sykes-Picot Agreement.

The statement pointed out that the agreement between Britain and France on 1916 had focused on administration and control of smaller provinces seceded from the Ottoman Empire and said: “In the agreement, the goal was to divide Kurdistan into four parts and turn the country over to the patronage of other countries and thus control the will of the Kurdish people.”

The declaration stressed that the world powers are trying to install a new agreement after the Sykes-Picot has failed and that Geneva could become a 'second Sykes-Picot'.

The TEV-DEM statement remarked that the foreign powers wish to isolate the Kurds in the Geneva talks and called for a stance against this situation.
