Kurdistan Free Society Movement (Tevgera Azadî ya Civaka Kurdistanê) issued a written statement today on the ongoing protests in Southern Kurdistan.

WHAT SHOULD BE DONE FOR A SOLUTION?

The statement posted on Tevgera Azadî’s official website lists the following points for a solution:

“1-The current government has no legitimacy left, they must be disbanded. Until elections are held in the region, there should be an interim government so necessary activities can continue and a legitimate administration can be founded.

2-The government utilizing violence against the protesters and the legitimate demands of the people is unacceptable. It must be known that any and all violence will increase the chaos. The best course of action at this point for the government is to address the legitimate demands of the people. The government must fulfill their duty against those who commit violence, investigate and punish the incidents and release all who have been detained by the security forces.

3-The protesters and those who feel responsible should form a committee for administration so democratic ways of a solution can develop, violence can be avoided, headquarters don’t get set on fire and protests carry on in an organized manner.

4-We as the Tevgera Azadî support the people’s actions and their democratic and peaceful demands. We are calling on our friends and allies to voice our demands in a democratic fashion. We are not on the side of those who increase violence. We also ask our friends and allies to refrain from violence.”
