HPG and YJA Star guerrillas celebrated the peoples of the Middle East for the upcoming Newroz and vowed to “make the 2022 Newroz the Newroz of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom” and to “increase our struggle”.
HPG and YJA Star guerrillas stated that they welcomed the Newroz in 2022 with great enthusiasm, saying, “The Newroz fire started by Kawa the Blacksmith has not died down and it will continue to glow.”
HPG fighters Bengîn Barman, Mazlûm Kato and YJA Star fighter Ezda Îsyan spoke to ANF on the occasion of the Newroz festival on March 21.
“First of all, I congratulate Öcalan, the Kurdish people and the peoples of the Middle East on Newroz Day. As it is known, Newroz is a very important day for the Kurdish people and all oppressed peoples. Kawa the Blacksmith became a symbol of resistance. This resistance has reached a very high level under the leadership of our people and our movement,” Bengîn Barman said.
ÖCALAN INSPIRED OUR RESISTANCE AND STRUGGLE
“Despite the challenging conditions, the fire that Mazlum Doğan lit in prison gave hope to all oppressed peoples. Moreover, the actions of Zekiye, Rehşan and Bêrîvan, who carried out actions of self-immolation for Öcalan, rekindled this fire. The source of our resistance and struggle is our leader, Öcalan. We will make the 2022 Newroz the Newroz of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom and increase our struggle,” Barman added.
THE NEWROZ FIRE WILL GROW STRONGER
YJA Star guerrilla Ezda Îsyan stated that Newroz is very important for the Kurdish people, saying, “The Newroz fire started by Kawa the Blacksmith has not died down. The Newroz fire will grow stronger than ever against oppression and persecution. The struggle and resistance against Turkish President Erdogan, the contemporary Dehak, is continuing. Women and youth will claim the Newroz fire and make it even stronger.”
NEWROZ MEANS A FREE LIFE TO US
HPG guerrilla Mazlûm Kato remarked that they welcomed Newroz this year with great hope and enthusiasm. “I have the hope and belief that we will secure the physical freedom of Öcalan in 2022. Our people should revolt against the occupation of the Turkish state with this hope and enthusiasm. To us, Newroz is resistance; it is a struggle for a free life. We will defeat the Turkish state with the fire and resistance of Newroz. Our young people should take to free mountains with this awareness. We will end the oppression of the invaders against peoples on this Newroz.”
