The Conscience and Justice Watch of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputies in Van province continued today in its 3rd day with visits by local people and civil society organizations representatives.
The police forced all visitors to pass through a narrow opening where they took away the visitors’ identity cards before letting them into the park. After a group of youths that visited the vigil, chanted the slogan "Justice for Suruç", the police moved in and intended to detain them, but were prevented by reactions of the parliamentarians and local people.
Çaldıran Co-mayor Suna Atabay also paid a visit to the vigil keepers but was taken into custody under the pretext of a search warrant against her, the moment she exited the park.
The Conscience and Justice Watch was visited today by representatives of HDP and Democratic Regions' Party (DBP) branches, KESK (Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions), ESP (Socialist Party of the Oppressed) youths, opinion leaders of various tribes, Peace Mothers Initiative and local people.
