Thousands of people participated in the funeral ceremony of the 4 people massacred by the police in Hakkari’s Gever district. Aydın Tümen, Serhat Buldan and Nejdet İşyözü were buried in the Bajêrgeh Cemetary in Esentepe neighborhood, and Rahmi Sefalı was buried in Şahê village 25 kms away from the town. Relatives of the slain civilians retrieved the bodies from the morgue this morning, and a convoy of hundreds of vehicles accompanied the families as they walked to Bajêrgeh Cemetary. Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-President Leyla Güven, HDP İstanbul parliamentarian Pervin Buldan, HDP Hakkari parliamentarians Selma Irmak, Nihat Akdoğan and Abdullah Zeydan, HDP Van parliamentarian Adem Geverî, HDP and DBP administrators and Peace Mothers Assembly members participated in the funeral, which was besieged by police officers.
Women wore black clothes and sang odes during the funeral, which made hundreds of civilians cry. Aydın Tümen, Serhat Buldan and Nejdet İşyözü were buried after their funeral prayer, and a moment of silence was held to commemorate them. Participants of the funeral chanted slogans such as "Martyrs don’t die" and "Murderer state will pay" throughout the ceremony.
AKP WILL PAY FOR ITS MASSACRES
HDP Hakkari Parliamentarian Selma Irmak spoke during the funeral ceremony of the 3 slain civilians and said that the AKP government was responsible for the massacre and would pay for its crimes. Irmak noted that all of the murderers in North Kurdistan were encouraged by the AKP.
HDP parliamentarian Pervin Buldan also spoke during the ceremony and expressed the rage of the people at the massacre. Buldan stated her hope that the perpetrators of the massacre would soon pay for their crimes in Kurdistan, and praised the people of Gever for holding their heads high as they resist state cruelty.
HDP parliamentarian Abdullah Zeydan spoke during the funeral ceremony of Rahmi Sefalı in Şahê village and said that the army commanders that had destroyed Gever during the self-administration resistance and the governor of Yüksekova were responsible for the massacre. Zeydan called for the immediate dismissal of Yüksekova governor from his post.
Lastly, Hasan Buldan, the father of 16 years-old Serhat Buldan that was massacred by the police, said that Serhat was massacred as he was sitting in front of a café, and was the martyr of entire peoples of Kurdistan.
After the funeral, participants of the ceremony moved to the mourning tent that was established in Yeni Mahalle.
