Clashes between HPG guerrillas and Turkish forces continue in the district since late last night in the wake of a bombardment by Turkish jets and artillery attack launched from District Regimental Command.

Four mortar shells fired by Turkish soldiers in the district have hit the civilian are in the village of Setkar Friday afternoon. A mortar shell targeted a house in the village, as a result of which three civilians lost their lives and two others were heavily wounded.

Civilians Ahmet Temel, his son Behçet Temel and their relative Alya Temel have lost their lives, while Fevzi Temel and Ahmet Temel's son Hasan Temel were heavily wounded in the fire. Inhabitants of the town are now taking the casualties to hospitals in Şırnak and its Uludere district.

In the meantime, journalists waiting outside Şırnak State Hospital have been assaulted and driven away from the area by special operation teams who also opened fire into the air in an attempt to intimidate the reporters.
