On June 30, a group of locals headed to an operation area to extinguish the fire started by artillery strikes in Mehlê hamlet in Yalaza (Kerwas) village of Amed's Lice district. The civilians were stopped and obstructed, and furthermore tortured by special operations police and soldiers. According to villagers, 2 of these people were tortured to death.
The other locals were detained and 12 of them were remanded in custody last week.
Late yesterday, three of these locals, Rojda Kocakaya, Erdal Kocakaya and Veysi Gökhan, who had been receiving treatment in Amed Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital since, were also detained.
The three were later remanded in custody and taken to Diyarbakır D Type Prison on grounds of “aiding and abetting an illegal organisation”.
