A citizen from Cizre, Abdulhamit Çancı stated that this pollution has increased even more in recent years, and yet neither the municipalities nor the Provincial Directorate of Environment has carried out a proper study to address this issue.
“The socialization area of people is represented by the shores of this river. People are coming here for a picnic or to relax. Waste water pollutes the environment. The history of the Tigris should be taken into consideration and should be urgently addressed.”
The citizen added: “Many times we have written petitions to the relevant authorities, but they have ignored us. There is a treatment facility near there, or they should open a new facility. Everyone is disturbed by this smell. We expect the new municipality to find a solution to waste water.”
