TJA called on the KDP to recognise the status of Yazidis and put an end to crimes against humanity.
TJA called on the KDP to recognise the status of Yazidis and put an end to crimes against humanity.
The Free Women's Movement (TJA) made a statement against the KDP's pressure and threats against the Yazidis and urged the KDP to "immediately give up the dirty game you are playing against the Yazidis".
Representatives of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), civil society organisations and Peace Mothers attended the press conference held at Dicle Culture and Art Association in Amed (Diyarbakır) on Monday.
Speaking here, TJA activist Birsen Kurtboğdu stated that the KDP insists on not recognising the status of Yazidis and that this situation prepares the ground for a new genocide.
Birsen Kurtboğdu said, "Today, the KDP is collaborating with the AKP-MHP regime and organising attacks against Kurds. This treacherous stance poses a great threat to the Yazidis."
Birsen Kurtboğdu also drew attention to the genocides that Yazidis have been subjected to throughout history and recalled that thousands of women and children were kidnapped and systematically raped during the genocidal onslaught of ISIS in Shengal (Sinjar) on 3 August 2014.
Kurtboğdu said, "The KDP, which prepared the ground for the Yazidi genocide 10 years ago, is now trying to expel hundreds of thousands of Yazidis from their lands. It wants to clear the region of the Yazidi community. The Yazidis staying in KDP-controlled camps are trying to return to Shengal, fearing that an attack is being organised against them. Yazidis are being made the target of a new genocide with fatwas in mosques in Zakho."
Birsen Kurtboğdu made the following appeal to the KDP: "Immediately give up the dirty game you are playing against the Yazidis. First of all, give an account of the genocide of the Yazidis that you abandoned to their fate in front of the eyes of the whole world. We women will not forget the treacherous stance you adopted for the sake of your daily dynastic interests. You are the cause of a possible new genocide."
DEM Party MP Adalet Kaya drew attention to the torture and violence that Yazidis were subjected to in KDP camps and criticised the KDP. Kaya said, "KDP did not protect the Yazidis from genocide and now it is trying to prevent them from organising. Recognise the status of Yazidis and put an end to these crimes against humanity." Justice Kaya invited the peoples and states of the world to solidarity with the Yazidis.
