Trustee at Erciş stole the logo of another municipality
The logo revision ordered by the Erciş trustee turned out to be stolen.
The logo revision ordered by the Erciş trustee turned out to be stolen.
Like the AKP government, the trustees they appoint also know no bounds when it comes to stealing.
Deputy Mayor Mehmet Şirin Yaşar was appointed as trustee to the Van's Erciş District Municipality on September 11. Yaşar ordered a revision to the municipality logo and it has since come to light that the new logo that has been used in branding and signs by the Erciş Municipality since October 10, 2016 was stolen.
LOGO BELONGS TO CİHANBEYLİ MUNICIPALITY
The logo was designed with figures that represent Cihanbeyli district of Konya and the municipality started to use it in 2014 by the municipal council’s decision.
Cihanbeyli Mayor Mehmet Kale had said the following on the new municipality logo in a statement in 2014:
“We made preparations to have a unique, creative and memorable logo that included the main themes of our district, the Salt Lake, flamingos and agriculture. In this context, we put revising the logo on the agenda in previous council meeting and the council members have made the decision to change the current logo.”
The stolen logo created a fuss in Erciş.
PEOPLE SAY IT’S EMBARASSING
The people of Erciş voiced their protest: “We compare the two logos, they are the same. Erciş Municipality took Cihanbeyli Municipality’s logo, added Erciş grapes to the left and the pearl mullet fish to the right, then tried to pass it off as a new logo! This is stealing labor. It is embarrassing that a district municipality with 170.000 people has a stolen logo.”
The municipality officials haven’t made any statements yet.
