Turkey bombs village in Amediye

The Turkish Air Force bombed a village in Amediye, South Kurdistan. The bombs fell in the immediate vicinity of an estate located in the same town where a guerrilla group was ambushed by the KDP on Wednesday.

Turkey continues to carry out air strikes against the Kurdish population. Warplanes bombed a village in Amediye (Amêdî) district in Iraq's Kurdistan region on Thursday. The bombs fell in the immediate vicinity of a farm in the town of Sergele. No one was injured, but there was still unknown damage to property.

According to a resident of Sergele, the village population received a warning in advance so that the farm could be evacuated in time before the air strikes. Around 300 cattle had to be relocated at short notice, and the nine employees also left the company. In addition to buildings on the estate, some of the population's houses were also damaged by the bombing.

Gundê Sergelê is located almost ten kilometers east of Amediye and is therefore in the administrative area of the Duhok Governorate.

On Wednesday, a PKK guerrilla unit was ambushed by KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) troops. As the People's Defense Forces (HPG) said in a statement about the incident, the guerrilla unit was traveling in two cars towards Girê Amêdî when it was attacked by a vehicle with a mounted machine gun while passing through Sergele. The fighters then left their cars and fired back. A battle broke out in which two HPG members were injured.
