“Turkey is building more military bases in Southern Kurdistan”

The Turkish army attacks civilian settlements in southern Kurdistan every day and continues to expand its military bases on Iraqi territory. Both the Iraqi central government and the Kurdish regional government are silent on this.

Attacks of the Turkish army on Southern Kurdistan have increased in recent weeks. For about three weeks, civilian neighborhoods have increasingly been affected by the attacks. In particular, villages in the areas of Bradost, Balayan, Qendîl and Behdînan were attacked by the Turkish Air Force and artillery.

Although civilians have been killed by the Turkish Army's attacks and material damage has occurred, neither the Iraqi central government nor the Kurdish regional government are reacting.

As PUK politician Ferec Rêkanî from Sheladizê Committee states, the Turkish army is also building more military bases in the region: "The Rêkan and Nêrwe communities are being bombed day and night by the Turkish Air Force. Numerous new military bases are being built and more soldiers have been stationed in the region,"said Rêkanî.

A few days ago, in an attack, the Şacayan Bridge was destroyed and access to 16 villages was interrupted, the PUK politician continued. "The population is very worried and constantly asks why the government is not responding to the Turkish attacks."
