Turkish army bombs Hazro, forcing people out

Turkish soldiers have set orchards and vineyards on fire and are forcing villagers to move away.

Despite no curfew being in effect in Üç Basamak (Heremo) village between Amed’s Silvan and Hazro districts, forest areas have been set on fire as a result of clashes. Bombs were the cause of the fires and Turkish soldiers don’t allow the villagers to intervene. There are several military vehicles positioned by the entrance of Hazro district center.

Clashes broke out when village guards protecting vehicles that conduct seismic searches in the Ölgen (Kanîbuşkul) village of Hazro opened fire. Two village guards have been lightly wounded, while reports say one other has serious wounds.

Meanwhile, 7 people who were detained earlier have been released last night.

Turkish state has banned entry to the villages as part of their military attacks, and the villagers are only allowed to travel out of the villages and into the city center.

Residents believe the village population is being forced to move away, with the operation used as an excuse, and that is why the army is allowing them to exit.
