Turkish army builds 9 new bases in South Kurdistan

184 families were displaced from their homes and dispossessed of 830 acres of land after the Turkish attacks on Duhok. The occupying army built 9 new bases in the region.

According to Rojnews, the attacks of the occupying Turkish state in southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) continue. People in Duhok are forced to leave their homes due to air strikes and ground bombardments.

On 15 June, the occupying Turkish state army launched a comprehensive invasion attack in the Duhok region following a deployment of thousands of soldiers, 300 tanks and armoured vehicles. These attacks caused human and environmental disasters.

During the recent occupation attacks, 184 families living in Duhok were forced to leave their homes. Each of these families also owns vineyards and gardens due to the geographical structure of the region. These vegetable and fruit gardens, which consist of at least 4-5 decares, cover a total area of 830 decares.

In the last two months, Turkish attacks targeted 19 houses, 2 schools, a flour factory, a car, a church and 2 water plants in South Kurdistan.

In the latest invasion attacks of the occupying state, the villages of Mijê, Kevne Mijê, Girgaşe, Spîndarê in Ber Garê district, the Dêmka village in Batîfa and the villages of Dergeke, Musabegî, Şêlazê, Bişîlê and Miska in Kanî Masê in Berwarî Bala region of Duhok were forcibly evacuated. In total, 170 villages were evacuated due to the occupation attacks of the fascist Turkish state and 602 villages are in danger of evacuation.

The occupying Turkish army also built 9 military centres in Behdînan. Since 2015, the Turkish state has built a total of 74 bases in South Kurdistan.

On the other hand, the communication lines and telephone poles of the Turkish state in the occupation bases have negatively affected the communication lines of approximately 110 villages.

According to the data compiled by the American organisation CPT based on surveys of the people of the region, 68 thousand acres of bushes and forests were burnt to ashes during the invasion attacks of the Turkish state.

There is no compiled data on the attacks and bombardments of the Turkish state, but according to the information received from different parts of South Kurdistan, the Turkish state has bombed South Kurdistan more than 300 times.

As a result of the attacks of the occupying Turkish state since the beginning of the year, 13 civilians were martyred and 11 civilians were wounded. Last year, 33 civilians were martyred and 22 civilians were injured as a result of the Turkish attacks.

As a result of the fascist Turkish state's attacks and bombardments targeting the whole of South Kurdistan with the aim of occupying and annexing it, many villages have been evacuated, the civilian population has been massacred, the nature of Kurdistan has been plundered, but the governments of Kurdistan Region and Iraq have still not reacted to these attacks. On the contrary, they meet with Turkish state officials every other day and watch the martyrdom of Kurdish civilians.
