The occupying Turkish state is building new roads in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in order to expand its occupation and annexation campaign in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). The KDP is acting as a warden in the construction of these roads.

According to the information and images obtained by Rojnews, a new road is being built in Guherzê village in Amadiya district of Duhok in order to expand its occupation and to dispatch reinforcements to the region.

According to the information obtained from local sources, KDP forces and the Turkish National Intelligence Organisation (MIT) are protecting the vehicles and equipment used in the road construction.

The Turkish army has also built a base in the region in recent weeks. The base, which has trenches and shelters, was built behind the village of Guherzê (Guharz), about ten kilometres southeast of the town. Due to its strategic location near the western front of the Zap region, which is controlled by the PKK guerrillas, the base is likely to play an important role in Turkey's occupation strategy.

According to reports, the peshmerga units of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) are also taking part in the construction activities. The KDP, which is dominated by the Barzanî clan, openly collaborates with Turkish fascism and supports Turkey's occupation of Southern Kurdistan. In Turkey’s fight against the guerrillas, the KDP’s troops are effectively acting as a proxy army for Turkey.
