Turkish army crossing the border hit hard by guerrillas

17 Turkish soldiers lost their lives when an IED detonated during the Turkish army’s air landing of troops in the Xeregol area of Southern Kurdistan by the Çukurca direction in the morning hours.

The Turkish army carried out intense bombings on the Xeregol area in Southern Kurdistan territory by the direction of Hakkari’s Çukurca district late last night. Following the aerial attacks, Turkish soldiers were air landed with Sikorsky helicopters in the morning.

But the IEDs the guerrillas laid on the hill beforehand detonated and many soldiers lost their lives. Local sources say 17 soldiers have been killed.

According to ANF reporters following the clashes in the region, the Turkish army is hitting the area with Cobra type helicopters to pick up their casualties. The intense clashes that ensued when the guerrilla retaliated and Turkish aerial activity continue.
