A military operation by the Turkish army is underway in the Omerya region near Nusaybin on Thursday. The area of operations borders with civilian settlements in the rural region of the Kurdish province of Mardin. Hundreds of soldiers are involved in the military operation, and the Turkish Air Force is supporting the operation.
Heavy searches are taking place in the area, and the base camp set up for the operation is in the immediate vicinity of the villages in the Omerya region. So far there have been no reports of clashes between the Kurdish guerrillas and the military.
The Turkish army had carried out an operation on Mount Bagok on Tuesday night. In the early morning, the governor's office responsible for the province issued a curfew in some villages and hamlets in the area surrounding the mountain. The curfew has since been lifted.
