Turkish army targets the Bêdûhê village in Metina

The village of Bêdûhê in Metina region of Duhok, Southern Kurdistan is constantly targeted by the Turkish army with howitzer, mortar and aerial attacks.

Inhabitants of the 200-house village spoke to ANF about the Turkish attacks, stressing that: “The Turkish state has no right to do this. We have no patience left”, and calling on the Southern Kurdistan government to break their silence.

“THEY SEE US AS ENEMIES”

Inhabitant Kemal Ramazan Abdurrahman who lives on beekeeping told the followings regarding the Turkish attacks: “Our village is constantly targeted by the attacks of the Turkish army.I have no source of income other than beekeeping. We are tired of this atrocity. My little boy got injured on a foot while trying to flee during the latest bombardment of the Turkish army. We are worried for our children. To the Turkish soldiers, there is no difference between our children and the PKK militants. To them, our children are their enemies like the PKK militants. This is only because we are Kurdish. Saddam had also evacuated our village once. Then, too, we were always subjected to atrocity. Saddam's atrocity ended but Erdoğan's began.”

CALL TO THE SOUTHERN KURDISTAN GOVERNMENT

Another Bêdûhê inhabitant that spoke on condition of anonymity said: “The Turkish army has made our village a target. This is not the first time they are attacking us here. 200 livestock of mine perished in their previous attacks. This state has no right to do this to us. These are our lands. Erdoğan claims to be Muslim. I do not understand what his Islam is like. I call on the Kurdistan regional government to come up with a solution to this problem.”

“I WILL NOT LEAVE MY VILLAGE”

Another resident by the name of Nuriye Hüseyin told that: “My parents and grandparents were all from this village. I live here as well. We have always earned a living with animal husbandry in this village. I am old anyway and I will not leave my village whatever the Turkish army does.
