Turkish bombardments start a fire in Qandil as well
The people of Qandil condemned the airstrikes of the Turkish state that aimed for a massacre by targeting civilian settlements.
The people of Qandil condemned the airstrikes of the Turkish state that aimed for a massacre by targeting civilian settlements.
On 12 August, warplanes of the occupying Turkish army conducted bombardments near the settlements of the civilian population in Qandil region of Medya Defense Zones, Southern Kurdistan.
The bombardment did not result in casualties among the civilians but a nearly 20-decare forested land burned to ashes as result of the fire started by airstrikes. Locals from Enzê village and surrounding settlements hurried to stop the fire from spreading.
The villagers that rushed to the scene to intervene the fire talked to ANF and expressed their reactions towards the ecocidal attacks of the Turkish state.
A villager from Enzê said that: "Many animals were killed and many trees were scorched due to the Turkish aerial strikes on Enzê region. We are here because the fire is spreading throughout the field due to wind and will reach our village if we don't do something."
“THERE IS NO LAND LEFT FOR GRAZING”
Stressing that the Turkish army bombed civilian settlements where not any PKK guerrillas are present, the villager underlined that the bombed and scorched fields were grasslands for the cattle, and complained, "The fire that spread here has swallowed up all the land. Now we have nowhere to graze our cattle."
“SOUTHERN KURDISTAN GOVERNMENT KEEPS SILENT”
The villager stated that the regional government of Southern Kurdistan has never showed any reaction towards these attacks of the Turkish army and said: "This is not the first time that the Turkish state has carried out such attacks. Many times before they targeted and killed our civilian population. Like in 2011 in Kortek, or 2015 in Zergelê. Similarly, warplanes of the Turkish army aimed at a woman in Bolê and killed her. We expect the regional government to start showing reactions to the Turkish massacres. Under the pretext of PKK presence, the Turkish state is bombing our villages, our lands and fields. There is nothing morally and socially acceptable of these attacks."
