More people are joining the ranks of the Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ, Yekîneyên Berxwedana Şengalê) to fight the ISIS gangs in the Êzîdî town of South Kurdistan which was first attacked and witnessed a genocide by ISIS one year ago.
Thousands of Êzîdî people were kidnapped or massacred by ISIS when they first attacked the Shengal town on August 3, 2014. The majority of those kidnapped is made up of women and children.
Rojat Ali from the Turkish town of Kayseri in Central Anatolia told that he had joined the YBŞ ranks after the genocide to defend Shengal and protect the Êzîdî people.
'THE BATTLE FOR HUMANITY HAS NO RELIGION, CULTURE OR LANGUAGE'
Speaking to ANF, Rojat Ali told the followings as to why and how he joined the ranks of resistance in Shengal from Turkey; “Humans have a language, culture and language but the battle for humanity does not. This is how I treated the genocide of the Êzîdî people and joined Shengal Resistance Units. We do know why and with what purpose the ISIS gangs came to the Middle East. An exploitation war is being waged under the name of war of religion and we do know very well who are leading this war. Humanity has paid great prices in Kurdistan, especially the Kurdish people. The Middle East houses people from every religion and kind, including Muslim, Êzîdî, Jew, Syriac, Alevi, Sunnite and many other beliefs. However, this is not a war of religion. We do not pay attention to the policies and mindsets that pursue distortionary propaganda over us because it is clear whom we are fighting against. And most importantly, we are there where the history of humanity began, and we are struggling for humanity.”
'IT IS AN HONOUR TO LIBERATE SHENGAL'
Rojat Ali pointed out that their goal was not only cleanse the Middle East of ISIS gangs, but to eradicate them as a mindset all around the world, adding;
"We are there where Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) wants to be, and we need to act accordingly. It is a human duty and honour to liberate Shengal and present a free Shengal to our Êzîdî people. The goal of the colonialist states is to destroy the philosophy of Leader Apo. However, we as YBŞ and YPJ Shengal forces, predicate our struggle on the philosophy of Leader Apo and the confederal system he mentioned in his statement of self-defense, which puts forward a system and living based on the together-living of all peoples, religions and cultures. As the forces defending Shengal, guerrillas of YBŞ, HPG and YJA Star, we will be giving a struggle against the colonialist systems. On the basis of our popular army and organization, we will carry out a revolution in Shengal and the entire Middle East territory."
