People of Cizre who were forcibly displaced by genocidal attacks of state forces have started to return home as the curfew remains in effect despite Turkey's announcement two weeks ago that military operations in the town have ended.

State forces continue to clear the destruction caused by their side during the two months of onslaught which ended with a brutal massacre of some 200 people, mostly wounded, who had been trapped in basements and awaiting evacuation.

Residents of Nur neighborhood who returned home have been attacked by police today while trying to gather the very few usable goods of theirs from their houses left in ruins.

While police forces continuously fired tear gas on the residents in an effort to drive them away from the area, people insisted on staying in their neighborhood despite a lack of electricity, water and food. Residents are trying to clean their houses with well water.

Some other people were also attacked by Turkish forces as they tried to enter the town, because of which many reached their neighborhoods from other paths. Police teams have also disallowed the opening of two markets in the town centre, and are firing random tear gas on streets at the moment.
