Turkish helicopter attack left one villager in critical condition

One of the civilians who was wounded in yesterday’s helicopter attack in Diyarbakir is in critical condition, hospital sources said.

A Turkish attack helicopter bombed a group of civilians in Baglan village, Lice, a district of Diyarbakir province. Three civilians were wounded in the attack.

Father of 13, Celal Yildirim (58) is in critical condition after suffering wounds to the head hospital sources in Diyarbakir said.  Munir Serin (32) who was also wounded in the attack, is under the custody of Turkish police since last night.

Mehmet Yildirim, the brother of Celal, said “My brother Celal and Munir was returning to the village with by tractor. They were attacked without warning near the village. My brother Celal is 58 years-old and has 13 children. Munir is 32 years-old. Celal suffered wounds to the head and leg while Munir’s leg was wounded. Turkish soldiers prevented us from helping the wounded and taking them to the hospital. We could take them to the hospital at around 1 a.m. My brother was in critical condition and Munir was slightly injured.

Curfew imposed by Turkish authorities is still in force in Baglan village. All houses were searched by Turkish soldiers and identities of the residents were checked. There were reports of ill-behavior by Turkish soldiers against Kurdish civilians during searches.

An envoy from People’s Democratic Party (HPD) attempted to visit the village but they were prevented from entering the village. HPD MP’s Feleknas Uca, Ziya Pir and Sibel Yigitalp are waiting for permission from authorities in Lice.
