As the Turkish army has recently increased its military activities and operations in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq recently, reactions are growing against the Turkish occupation of the region.
“Iraq and the Kurdistan region’s sovereignty should be respected, and forces from other countries should not be permitted to enter the region,” Rebwar Mahmmud, formal Spokesman of the Coalition of Democracy and Justice (CDJ) told Xendan on Saturday.
“Turkish army’s incursion into the Kurdistan region’s territory is violation of international laws, as well as Iraq and the Kurdistan region’s sovereignty. We call on the Iraqi government and the KRG to work together in order to put a limit to breaking Kurdistan’s sovereignty,” CDJ’s spokesman said.
Also on Saturday, thirteen lawmakers from the Kurdistan Region Parliament called for a special session to denounce the Turkish move of making operations inside the Kurdistan region.
“We ask all the relevant bodies to stand and take serious action against this violation of international law and explicitly reject the injustice and ask the Turkey’s troop to withdraw from our land. The Government of the Iraqi National Assembly and the KRG must take on the responsibility to force Turkey to withdraw its forces from Iraq”, said the MPs.
