Turkish officials do nothing to stop forest fire in Hakkari

Forest fire in rural Semdinli, a district of Hakkari province continues for the second day.

The fire started after Turkish artillery randomly hit the area yesterday. Turkish army declared a curfew on Sunday and started a military operation in the area.

Although there are many active military units Turkish officials do nothing to stop the area. It is reported that the flames are a few hundred meters close to Sapatan village.

Villagers raised concern over the rapidly spreading fire. Hundreds of fruit trees are reportedly burned as a result of the forest fire.
