The road between Van's Çaldıran district and Ağrı's Doğubayazıt district was closed to traffic a while ago due to ongoing clashes as the Turkish military operation in Mount Tendürek area continues uninterrupted since the death of 6 soldiers two weeks ago.

After Van Governor's Office included the road in a "security zone" on request of gendarme officials, soldiers have now dug a trench on the road and are trying to hinder passage on this route with barricades from earth.
