Soldiers of the occupying Turkish army attacked a group of civilians last night in the town of Derecik, in Hakkari province, bordering southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Soldiers opened fire on local Tahsin Yalçın and two of his friends as they were on their way back home at around 3 am last night.

Yalçın was shot in the chest and lost his life at the scene. Informed about the incident, his family retrieved the body and took it to Yüksekova State Hospital.

The young man will be laid to rest following an autopsy.
