Turkish soldiers set forests on fire in Lice countryside

After rural areas in Lice’s Dibek (Derxust) village were bombed, this morning helicopters dispatched soldiers in the Aliye hamlet of Yalımlı (Xosor) and a large scale operation was launched.

The Turkish army launched an operation in the Lice district of Amed. The roads are open, but soldiers have been dispatched via helicopter and a large scale operation has been launched in the rural areas. The rural areas of Dibek (Derxust) village were bombed yesterday with Cobra helicopters and this morning large groups of soldiers were dispatched by helicopter to the Aliye (Dewaxey) hamlet of the Yalımlı (Xosor) village to the north of Lice.

The soldiers dispersed through the rural areas and set the forests on fire. Villagers say they can’t go to their orchards and can’t take their animals out to the pastures.

Villagers stated that the operation launched in the morning and is spreading.

One major and two soldiers have been killed in clashes.
