Two assailants killed after attack on Hewler Governorate
Two assailants who carried out an armed attack on the governorate building in Hewler, capital city of Kurdistan Regional Government, have been killed.
According to officials, armed assailants stormed the Hewler governorate building at 07:30 Monday morning. One police officer got wounded as a result of gunfire.
Hewler Governorate stated that the assailants were two or three people and there is no clear information yet regarding their identities, arms they are carrying and their goal.
Local sources report that two of the assailants have been killed and one has been captured alive.
While intense security measures have been taken around the governorate building, gunshots continue to be heard.
