Two relatives of slain taxi driver were arrested by Turkish police at the funeral ceremony in Van.
Zafer Ceyhan, a taxi driver, was killed by Turkish soldiers on Thursday (Sep 28) as he was driving through Yeşilova neighborhood in Erçis, a district of Van province. The Van Governorate released a statement labelling Ceyhan a member of the PKK after the incident in which he was killed. Soon later, the victim was identified as Zafer Ceyhan, a taxi driver living in Erçis.
Ceyhan’s body was returned to his family yesterday and the authorities denied the family transport services and even a coffin.
During the funeral ceremony, Turkish police cordoned off the area and let only 15 people enter the Seydi Muhammed Cemetery. After the burial, Turkish police arrested two relatives of Ceyhan who protested Turkish police for barring them of joining the funeral.
The two were identified as Ibrahim and Müjdat Ceyhan.
