Two HPG guerrillas laid to rest in Qandil

HPG guerrillas Rêzan Botan and Bawer Botan, who lost their lives as a result of Turkish attacks, were laid to rest in the Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery in Qandil.

People’s Defense Forces (HPG) guerrillas Rêzan Botan (Rêzan Gungen) and Bawer Botan (Bekîr Kina), who fell as martyrs as a result of Turkish attacks in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) on 6 August, were laid to rest in the town of Qandil.

Local people and residents of the Maxmur Refugee Camp attended the funeral at the Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery on Sunday.

Before the funeral, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs. Sultan Yıldıztan gave a speech on behalf of the families of martyrs from Maxmur and offered condolences to the relatives of the martyrs and the Kurdish people, saying: "The Kurdish people are facing a great attack. There are martyrs of different origins in our cemeteries. This shows us how widespread the philosophy of Leader Abdullah Öcalan is. It shows its success. As families of martyrs, we will follow in the footsteps of our martyrs. The guerrillas will win."

Xalid Muhamed of the Freedom Movement (Tevgera Azadî) from southern Kurdistan also expressed his condolences to Abdullah Öcalan and all the families of those martyred in the Kurdish liberation struggle.

After the speeches, the bodies of the two HPG fighters were buried accompanied by the slogans "Bijî Serok Apo" [Long Live Leader Öcalan] and "Şehîd Namirin" [Martyrs are immortal].
