In Batman, people held a protest on November 5 in Koçerler Neighborhood against the arrests of HDP co-chairs and MPs. Police entered the neighborhood and started shooting into the crowd with real bullets. At that time, minors B.A. (16) and C.A (16) were standing in front of an internet cafe and started to run to protect themselves from the police attack. The children were battered and detained by the police and were taken to Batman Security Headquarters. From there, the minors were transferred to the Juvenile Departmeny and the Central Police Station. They were kept in detention in the police station for one night without contact with their families, and they were tortured.
After the procedure with the police, the children were referred to the prosecutor’s office. They were released on probation by the court they had been referred to with a demand for their arrest. Signs of battery were discovered on the boys’ bodies after they were released.
Ğezal A. (54) said her son was detained without a reason and was subjected to torture while detained, telling the followings: “My son and his friend were at the internet cafe. The police attacked people and shot tear gas during the events that broke out. As my son and his cousin started to run to protect themselves from the police attack, policemen pursued them, detained them and took them to their headquarters with force. We learned of the battery and detention of my son from our neighbors. There are signs of battery on my son’s feet, waist and shoulder. He is limping because his foot is wounded. They have committed no crimes.”
B.A.’s friends from school also stated that their friend was limping due to the torture in the police station.
