Birthday celebrations were held for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Shengal. In the event, YJA-STAR guerilla Newal Tolhildan came across her brother Devrim Güzereş, who joined YBŞ that had been founded after the massacres of ISIS from Northern Kurdistan.

“APRIL 4 IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIFT FOR WOMEN”

Speaking to the ANF, Tolhildan said: “I’m celebrating April 4 for all our friends, especially our Leadership, who are resisting in all fronts, the streets, the mountains of Kurdistan. We feel the Leader in our hearts here. We believe and we know that our Leader feels us too. Mother Üveyş’s gift of April 4 has become the hope for all of the Middle East. April 4 is the most beautiful gift especially for us women.”

Tolhildan mentioned her meeting with her brother and continued: “Today I am happy for two reasons. The first is, as everybody knows, the birthday of Reber Apo. The second, seeing my brother who joined the ranks of the YBŞ. It is a wonderful feeling that two siblings are in the same fronts, the same regions. It is very important to me to see Comrade Devrim, both my friend in the struggle and my brother, on this sacred day. I was very happy to see my brother here, especially in the ranks of YBŞ. It is a different feeling, I have no words to explain it. It was beautiful to grow up and live together with Comrade Devrim. But fighting together is a different feeling. It is very important and sacred to see him in a city that has seen such sacred and great resistance.”

“WE WILL AVENGE THE MURDERED AND KIDNAPPED WOMEN”

Devrim Güzereş said, “I’m celebrating the birthday of our Leadership for all the peoples of Kurdistan, especially the people of Shengal. It is very soulful to celebrate Reber Apo’s birthday in the mountains of Shingal. Just the joy of Shengali people who came here with us is enough. It is an honor for me to be a member of YBŞ and to fight for my people. Our goal is to expand the YBŞ and make it an official organisation. I joined the YBŞ to avenge the kidnapped and murdered women. It is also meaningful and beautiful to fight in the Shengal mountains, which was a dream of our Leader.”

“WE BOTH WILL FIGHT UNTIL OUR LAST BREATH”

Güzereş expressed his feelings as: “It is a beautiful feeling to see Friend Newal, my comrade and my sister, on this sacred and special day. I am very happy. I am a YBŞ member, wanting to be a response to the massacres, and my sister is a YJA-STAR guerrilla. This is different. Words cannot suffice what I feel. We are both here for the revolution in Kurdistan. There is nothing as beautiful as two siblings fighting in the same regions, the same fronts. We will both fight until our last breath.”

CALL TO THE YOUTH

The brother and sister called for all young people, especially the youth of their home town Hakkari, to support the revolution in every part of Kurdistan.
